In addition to photovoltaic systems and cogeneration units, KS-Logistic now uses another sustainable and economical method of energy production. As an environmentally friendly alternative to heat generation from fossil fuels, a wood chip plant was installed at Kell am See branch at the end of last year. A wood chip plant heats with waste wood, e.g. of broken pallets, which is processed by a hacker to wood chips. Then the chips are transported into the 220 m3 large bunker of the plant. From there, the chips can be conveyed either directly to the heater or loaded on a truck for further transport.
